Shower Curtain Chic

Take a look at my new minor obsession:
A shower curtain festooned with grosgrain ribbon streamers? Yes, please. I first observed this marvel of shower curtain engineering in the latest issue of House Beautiful, which I decided to try out after Domino went belly up. So far I'm impressed.
You can get the shower curtain right here for $98.00.
On another note, I will be taking a much needed vacation and will return with regularly scheduled posts the first week of June. Have a wonderful and safe holiday weekend! Ciao!

Dressy dip-dye

J. Crew does it again! Take a look at this hot little number. Did I mention it has pockets?
{ Embossed-cotton dip-dye Lorelei dress, $110 right here. }
Brides - I consider this to be one of the most perfect rehearsal dinner dresses ever assembled. Not only is it gorgeous, it's also symbolic. I look at this and see the metamorphosis of a bride -- the white slowly overtaking the saturated color. Get it? She's colorful tonight, but the white is a reminder of what's to come. I may be over thinking this slightly. But I still think it's a fantastic style statement. So go get one and look fabulous and thank me later.

Fun with Stamps

It seems every year the United States Postal Service decides that they cannot possibly deliver anymore mail until they receive an additional two cents from the general public. This year is no exception, and the new rate of 44 cents is officially in effect. I am already mourning the loss of my beloved Charles and Ray Eames stamps that made my water bill infinitely more festive.

While you can always go out and buy Forever Stamps, I personally find them a tad snooze-worthy. Fortunately, just in time for the price increase, the USPS has released a few new designs. My feelings are mixed, take a look. What do you think?
Not gonna lie - I was pretty stoked when I saw the new Simpsons stamps. Pop art at it's finest. Perhaps not apropos for fancy wedding invitations, but fun nonetheless.
I'm also quite fond of this new design in the Love line. King and Queen of Hearts stamps are so cool and unexpected. Really pretty.

And this is where the post office lost me. My parents always said that if I didn't have anything nice to say, that I should keep my mouth shut. But I assure you, in this case, my silence is deafening.
Quick etiquette reminder for brides: you must MUST include postage on your RSVP cards. Whether they are tucked in a pretty envelope or you opt for groovy postcards, it's imperative that you stamp each and every one. Most often you can get away with a standard .44 cent stamp, but if there is any question at all - have your friendly postal employee weigh it for you. Same goes for your invitations. NEVER assume you have enough postage. The line at the post office is worth the wait.

Fun Floral Ideas

I specifically made a point to visit Jayson Home & Garden the last time I was in Chicago...but failed to look up the store hours, and by the time I arrived, they had closed up shop. MAJOR bummer.
The good news is they have a website, and would you just look at the floral gorgeousness they create (in addition to all of the great home accessories and garden goodies):
Check out their floral section for oodles of brilliant ideas. And if you are in the Chicago area, don't forget to look up the store hours before you visit. Just a thought.

Bold Prints for Summer

Summers are not something us Valley dwellers pine for like the rest of the country. But I do enjoy colorful prints and graphic patterns that are abundant this time of year. I can just see myself in this breezy tunic, sipping a fruity cocktail with the windows sealed shut and the A/C cranked to 68°.

Mother's Day Gift Ideas, Pt. 3

You can do chocolate for Mother's Day or you can do Vosges Chocolate. This is not sickeningly sweet maraschino cherries wrapped in pseudo chocolate, folks. This is gourmet. Exotic. Deeelish. Here's a taste:
Platanos y Orchidus: Sweet platanos, or bananas, are puréed, caramelized and joined by Jamaican rum, dipped in a pool of deep milk chocolate and crowned with a purple orchid bloom.
I would show you more, but my whole mouth just filled with saliva. So go find your own. Right here.

Mother's Day Gift Ideas, Pt.2

More fun ideas for mom, this time focusing on jewelry. Specifically jewelry that can be worn after Mother's Day (secret code for jewelry that does not contain hearts or cheesy "I love Mom" messages). Take a look at these three beauties. Your mom will thank you. And then you can thank me.
{Forget Me Not Ring, $50 - $720, right here. }
{Nesting Necklace, $70 -$79, right here. }
{Stacking Birthstone Rings, $39.95 - $239.85, right here.}

Mother's Day Gift Ideas

Have you heard? Mother's Day is this Sunday. Today I have the perfect gift suggestion for new moms. Behold:
{Porn for New Moms, $10.15 right here. }
And no, it's not real porn. As I've said before, this is a family site, folks. Inside you'll find "full color photographs of hunky dads doing what new mothers really want them to - getting up for 3 a.m. feedings, skipping golf to bond with the wee one, stocking the freezer with homemade baby food", etc. Every new mom's fantasy, right?
