Fun with Baby Shower Invites

One of my all-time favorite clients contacted me recently to create some baby shower invitations for a dear friend of hers. She wanted cute, sophisticated and quick. Not necessarily in that order.

The baby's last name will be "King" and he has been dubbed "BB King" by his parents-to-be, so I thought it would be fun to incorporate the cuteness on the front of the invites. We went with an accordion fold invitation that easily fits all of the pertinent information. It's also great for a little extra drama.

Baby Shower Invites for the Birds

As I posted here, I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of two nieces. The shower for baby #2 is quickly approaching and is being centered around feminine touches, fairy tales and the color pink. 

My sister-in-law had seen the images from my new line of Invitation Kits and fell in love with the paper I used for the Fuchsia and Turquoise Avian Invitation Kit. The pattern on the paper, combined with the deep pink satin ribbon made for a great feminine statement without being too "frou frou". 

Here's a sneak peak - with addresses and phone number removed...I figure there won't be any gate crashes at a baby shower, but you just never know - of the finished product?:

Librarian Chic

I'm going to be an Aunt! Actually an aunt times two because two of my sisters-in-law are expecting. They are due a month apart. I still suspect there was some sort of contest going on.

Shower #1 will take place at the end of the month, and is going to be styled around a "library for baby" theme. So naturally, the invitations had to reflect this. 

Since the baby's room will be decorated in pink and green, this seemed to be an obvious choice for the color scheme. But she was clear that she didn't want it "all pastel-y". So I used some great patterned magenta scrapbook paper with lime green cards and envelopes. The actual invitation was designed to look like a library card that fit in a book pocket. And here is the finished product:

Bay Area Baby

One of my favorite clients contacted me recently about designing some invitations for a baby shower she is co-hosting in San Francisco. 

She didn't have much direction on a color palate since the sex of the baby is going to be a surprise. So we settled on a deep brown with accents of white and a soft seafoam-y green. I am flipping out over this ribbon, it's so pretty in person! Here are the results of our collaboration:

Traditional Arizona

Last night I attended the 2nd Annual Event Elements Competition with the Bright girls, and they won 2nd place for tablescape design in their category! Woo hoo, rock on, high five!

This is such a fun event to attend because you get to walk around and see what all the creative gurus in the Valley have come up with. Amazing table top designs and cakes were on display, divided into four styles - Retro, Contemporary, Traditional and Vintage. Obviously these styles are very broad in scope, so it was fun to see how each entrant interpreted their designated style. 

Bright fell under the "Traditional" category, so they created an homage to "Traditional Arizona" that was just super cool. I was asked to come up with the paper products to go along with their theme, so I used elements of copper, turquoise and natural fiber to complement the other table elements.

Birthday Bash

Just got back from a whirlwind trip to Michigan for my sister-in-law's wedding. In addition to the wedding festivities, we also celebrated my mother-in-law's birthday. We planned a nice dinner at home with wine, apps and a yummy dinner. I also created menus, place cards and a wine list to coordinate with the brown, gold and green color palate. These photos were shot by my multi-talented husband :)

Birthday Safari

My friend Tammy knows how to throw a great party. I've been doing invitations for her for a few years now and she always has a fun theme picked out. This year, her youngest is turning one and she's having a safari-themed blowout. I have no doubt that little Blake will in some way coordinate with mom's theme. We did postcards for this momentous occasion which should leave Tammy some extra cash for the leopard print cake. Don't think she won't! Happy Birthday, Blake!
